Acai Berry vs. Other Fruit Juices

Acai berry juice is a proven source of vitamin C and antioxidants. But some question whether Acai berry is comparable to other fruit juices in terms of antioxidant potency, vitamin and mineral content. Because Acai berry products are more expensive than regular commercial fruit juices, some question the sensibility of buying Acai berry fruit juices rather than just buying cheaper, commercial fruit juices.

To compare the potency of Acai berry juice vs. other fruit juices, a study was conducted which analyzed the antioxidant potency of Acai berry and eleven other fruit juices. Results showed that Acai berry had higher antioxidant potency compared to apples, oranges, and peaches – and scores only slightly lower against mangoes, strawberries, and grapes.

While Acai berry antioxidant potency is lower compared to the latter three, the study also showed that Acai berries were more effective in lowering blood sugar levels than any of the three (mango, strawberry, grapes).

While Acai berry may be more expensive than regular fruit juices, its efficacy in terms of health benefits and anti-aging properties more than makes up for the price of three times the amount of other fruit juices. While other fruit juices need large amounts of consumption to get sufficient antioxidants, Acai berry only needs 2 tablespoons daily.
